Club Night February 4th

The guest speaker on this evening was Lt. Col. Malcolm Torrent, a retired army musician and one time Director of Music of the Life Guards.
He entertained us for over an hour with anecdotes of his army career, from joining as a boy entrant at the age of 15, until his retirement.

Malcolm brought along with him a wide selection of trumpets and cornets and played all of them for us, finishing off his talk with a very
novel instrument, a piece of garden hose with a funnel at one end and a mouthpiece at the other. This produced a very different sound from
all the other instruments and could be swirled around while playing, changing the sound yet again.
This very well attended meeting was most enjoyable and a great success.
