Ferndown Fete on the Field Bournemouth & Poole MGOC will be represented at the forthcoming Fete on the Field being staged on the King George V Playing Fields at Ferndown on Saturday 21 June. However, those interested in taking part should note that we are not taking bookings, instead you must book your place on-line via the official event website (details below) – entry fee is £5 per car (which includes a commemorative plaque on the day). The beating heart of this event is the two grand avenues of stalls that include everything from arts and crafts to sweets, cakes and fresh market produce. Other attractions include children’s rides on the funfair, falconry displays, music, dance and dog shows. There will also be a wide variety of refreshment outlets. Of particular interest to club members will be the display of some 180 Classic, Custom, Commercial and Agricultural vehicles. Although billed as a Classic Car display, the organisers are allowing all 1020 club members to be part of our display no matter the age of the vehicle. When booking in for the event (there are no on-the-day tickets) there is a drop-down section on the website form to nominate the car club you are affiliated to – Bournemouth & Poole MGOC is listed at the top. Ticking this box will ensure you are parked with us on our stand. Access for display vehicles on the day is via Cherry Grove where a new drop-kerb has been installed at the entrance to the field to help all those of you with low slung vehicles who have experienced problems of driving over the old kerbing in the past. The show is open to the public from 11am to 5pm. Display vehicles are asked to be on site by 10.40am. Cars can leave before the event closes, but drivers are asked to contact a marshal before they depart and they will escort you off the show site for public safety. Gurston Down hillclimb near Salisbury – including class for MGs – Saturday 05 July

Andy Munden is once again volunteering to co-ordinate a club group visit to the event.

The organisers have arranged a discount for 1020 club members using an on-line booking code so that advance tickets are priced at £10 per person instead of the normal adult rate of £12.50 (or £15 on the gate on the day).

As in previous year’s the plan is for club members to assemble at the Horton Inn at 9.30an on Saturday 05 July and travel in convoy (15 minute journey) so that we can be parked together in a reserved area – its then a free day to watch the action up the hill.

Epsom Area MGOC annual charity fund-raising Surrey Run which starts as usual at Bocketts Farm near Leatherhead.

A scenic route has been planned covering around 60 miles finishing at the Gatwick Aviation Museum where there will be dedicated MG parking.

The £24 entry fee includes a rally plate, route instructions, entry into the museum for the driver and a passenger and a free entry into a prize draw.

Proposed new classic car show at Gullivers Farm at West Moors

British Classic Car night on Poole’s historic waterside quay.

Eligible cars can park for free on the quay from 6pm to 9pm.

Ashley Miller, lead organiser of Classic Cars on Christchurch Quay, is inviting regulars to another classic event he is masterminding on Sunday 03 August.

Picnic in the Park takes place at Woodside Park, Rookes Lane, Lymington, SO14 8FPT.

Exhibitors will be able to arrive from 9.30am, although the official gate opening time is to be advertised as 10am – this is to avoid large queues forming early on. Admission is free and while drip trays are recommended they are not compulsory.

The event opens to the public at 11am with parking for the general public in Ridgeway Lane, SO41 8AA with the gathering planned to close at 4pm

Wings & Wheels at Henstridge Airfield

What was previously the Clayesmore School Classic and Supercar Show has moved location and for 2025 will be staged in the grounds of Canford School (adjacent to the Hamworthy Sports Club) on Sunday 24 August.

Now called the Canford Classics and Supercar Show the organisers are expecting around 600 cars to take part. There will be paddocks for Classic Cars and Supercars plus family entertainment, food outlets and live music.

Entry for accepted exhibitor cars is £15 for driver and one passenger – however the organisers are reviewing all entries before allowing an entry to proceed to check that vehicles meet their ‘exhibition criteria’.

The fee includes complimentary breakfast rolls and hot drinks for two people, access to the ‘Owners Hall’ and ‘Owners Pavilion’ and entry into award categories for the best cars in show.

Cars can arrive between 8am and 9.45am and need to stay on site until at least 2.30pm. The show is planned to finish at 3pm.
