Winter Road Run 2024

The first quarterly road run of 2024 for 1020 brought out a diverse collection of MGs spanning more than half a century of MG production from an MGA to a new MG4.

Entrants formed a line-up that included the usual wealth of MGB Roadsters and MGB GTs and included a quartet from the Z series, an MGF, a brace of MGCs as well as more modern examples from the Chinese factory such as an MG3, ZS and GS.

Starting from Hamworthy Sports Club near Wimborne, participants departed on a 36-mile 90-minute road route heading north and east into scenic parts of the New Forest and Hampshire before finishing with lunch at the historic thatched Elm Tree pub at Hightown near Ringwood.

On route the cars formed a colourful convoy through some of the lesser travelled lanes that skirted historic Christchurch and then took in the Bolderwood Ornamental Drive before heading into sections of the Hampshire countryside – those not temporarily under water.

The day was immaculately organised by club member Stefan Morawiec who waved everyone off and was then at the pub to welcome everyone. Thanks to the staff of the Elm Tree who were at the door to greet everyone and ensure the roast lunch was served promptly.
