Downton Motor Show

Twenty club cars and their occupants attended the Downton Classic Car Show which coincided with the traditional Downton Cuckoo Fair.

Unfortunately, due to overbooking on the part of the organisers and a lack of hard-standing space, the designated 1020 display area was moved from the leisure centre (where we were supposed to be parked) onto a neighbouring overflow public car park on a sloping field.

The position was far from ideal and precluded the use of the club gazebo. Several members elected to drive to the official public car park which was much closer to the fair itself.

However the majority were prepared to walk the extra distance to reach the main attraction which featured hundreds of stalls, food outlets, crafts, live music, dancing and children’s entertainment filling the length of Downton High Street.

Back at the motorshow, which was organised by the Downton Engineering Works, the display featured a very tidy line-up of MGCs and a broad selection of Minis which Downton is best known for.
