2025 Spring Run

The 1020 Spring Road Run on National Drive It Day proved to be a huge success with a bumper turn-out of 27 club cars making it to the start at Phoenix Classic Cars at Holton Heath.

Here John Copleston and his team, who are marking 25 years since the business was started, provided teas and coffees and showed members around the packed workshop facilities featuring some of their latest restoration and repair projects including an MGC from Devon, a Triumph TR from London and an historic Bentley.

A few people also took the opportunity to purchase some spare parts for their own vehicles from John’s extensive stores.

The workshop cars were matched by the colourful and diverse collection of MGs brought out by club members for the day; these ranged from a 1950s MGA through a healthy contingent of MGBs and MGB GTs, a brace of MGCs and a MGB  V8 (Regional Secretary Nigel Knowles) and onto more modern machinery such as a ZS hatchback, RV8 Roadster, MGFs and TFs right up to an all-electric MG4.

It was especially pleasing to see Colin Sexton’s award-winning MGB GT which had been brought along by his son William who we hope to see on more club events.

After the refreshments and insight into the workshop, rally plates and road books were issued by Adrian and Rita Mullins providing the instructions for a gentle drive to Potterne Park at Verwood with an alternative finish section for those who were going onto the Winchester MGOC Cobweb Spin at the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm.

In perfect, blue sky, driving conditions the modest 31-mile route took participants on a tour to the west and then north of Wimborne using some of the lesser travelled country roads.

At the finish, everyone went their separate ways, some choosing to make use of the local pubs and cafes for a leisurely lunch.
