Our guest speaker at the May club night, Denise Edwards, kept us entertained for an hour with her stories of how she started as a stunt lady and then worked in both film and television. Explaining how some of the special effects were obtained and the trials and tribulations of jumping out of windows to land on a pile of cardboard boxes, Denise also revealed how fire stunts are performed and the elaborate precautions that need to be undertaken for safety. Denise is now cutting back on actual stunt work and working as a co-ordinator, arranging stunts for other people to perform and looking after their safety. Members agreed that it was a most interesting talk.
