‘Circuit des Remparts’ – Angoulême 2013

8 cars from the club travelled together to Angoulême for the annual classic car racing event, held this year from the 20th to 22nd of September. We drove mostly on excellent D roads, in brilliant sunshine, passing through picturesque towns and villages. The atmosphere in Angoulême was fantastic, with line after line of vintage, veteran and classic cars in the paddock, MGs were very well represented. The racing was exciting, particularly for those sitting near the 3 hairpin bends, where many incidents took place. Some of our group were watching the racing, very close to the track, near the start/finish line. The 10 classes covered everything from pre-war cars to Porsche, with a grand final for the fastest cars from the previous races. If you have never attended this event, do not be put off by the distance, it is well worth making the effort.
