New Forest Run 2007

Yet again, another Region 10 triumph courtesy of 1009 Southampton & New Forest MGOC with their 2007 New Forest Run. Superb weather and over 200 MGs entered including a 14/28 Super Sports!

1020 had about 20 entries and it’s pleasing to me that my club offered so much support to our good neighbours. Great organisation started with the Saturday evening get-together at The Empress of Blandings at Copythorne (courtesy of Host Rod Brough  an ex-1020er). I was especially thrilled to be able to execute my Regional Secretary duties welcoming East Surrey MGOC, Wycombe MGOC, Preston & District MGOC (!!!) and many more individuals such as the "Bling" MGF from Sheffield (Chesterfield MGOC) and The Coopers from Kent to name but a few! Many had by the end of the weekend met Sue and David Fenton from the South Cambs and Essex Borders MGOC who were taking reservations for Cricket St Thomas 2008, our next Inter-Regional MG Weekend.

1009 and 1020 met many new MG owners with ‘old’ MGs that used to be in our clubs, now in new hands! On the Sunday, Durnovaria MGOC, Chichester MGOC and many more Region 10 clubs were apparent in their support for this mid-Summer Home Counties South jewel of an event.

My sincerest thanks, admiration and respect for all the 1009ers who continue to make the New Forest Run the success it always has been – and here’s to many more!

So many 1020ers supported 1009s New Forest Run. On the Saturday evening we had Claire and Paul Newman, Anna Palmer and Jim Forrester, Judith and Roger Colmer and Corinne and Spencer Brown accompanying me at The Empress of Blandings. On the Sunday, 1020’s roll call extended to:

The Balkwills, the Lowes, the Baileys, the Hackforths, the Newmans in the Frogeye, Michael Phillips, Ian Swinden and daughter in their Midget, Keith Dorey, Alison & Bob Batchelor, George & Lynne Gillett, Michael Matthews & Sheila Ferguson, Laurie & Chris Stone, Robert & Deidre Sargeant from Sandy in Bedfordshire (in a Seat Leon!), Brian Carrington and John in his Midget, Sue & David Fenton from Tiptree, Essex in an RV8, Mike Holloway in the MGA, Mike Martyn-Jones in his MGA, the Colmers, Colin and Vi Morris in their Midget, Deb and Kent Edlund in their MGF, David & Yvonne John,  the Garveys, Dave Hill, the Charltons, the Curtlers in their MGA … and many more besides. Sewards manager Steve Lill was there in his MGF too!

Some great photos – see our Gallery on the 1020 web site. Well done 1009 and everyone from Region 10 and 1020 who supported our good chums 1009 on this special event blessed by fine weather.
