Cricket St Thomas Weekend 12/15 May 2006

Competition for MG of the Weekend sponsored by FROST was between 98 MGs
but Terry Locke of East Sussex (which was also the largest attending
MGOC with 15 MGs!) scooped the award. Two SVs stayed at CST but we
eventually had SEVEN SVs at the end of the Run on Sunday at Haynes.

Over 100 MGs, and with SEVEN MG SVs and a WA Tickford in attendance at the Haynes Museum on the Sunday worth over £600,000 alone, such was the resounding success of this ‘first event of its kind’ that the next, for 2008 (yes, two thousand and EIGHT) is already being planned!

A full report will appear in “Enjoying MG” later this year and photos reflecting all aspects of this luxury ‘long weekend’ MG event will appear on the 1020 web site: www.1020mg.org.uk

For the participants, please e-mail me your best photos to nigel_hedges@hotmail.com

From the Champagne Reception to the beauty of the Wildlife Park, from the bubbling MG comeraderie to the impressive rumblings of massed MG SVs, from the contented rumblings of tummies full of yummy food to excited screams on the Petanque Pitch, from the squeals of live FA Cup football on the huge screen in the sportsbar to the 100+ MGs scouring the Somerset Countryside, penetrating the world-famous Cheddar Gorge heading towards the equally world-famous Haynes Museum, from live entertainment every night to Roche Bentley singing “You are the rocks beneath my wings”, to bow ties, long dresses and megamungous raffles, from gleaming silver wear to hilarious speeches (intended or otherwise), this weekend had it all.

From
the champagne reception in Cricket House on the Friday to the Gala
Dinner with DJs and posh frocks on the Sunday evening, the organisers
were already getting demands for another one in 2007 but you’ll all
have to wait until 2008 for the next one! Photos will be pouring in
and for those participants, send me your best ones so I can post them
here. Let’s have pictures from each Area Secretary in Region 10 to
reflect the fun YOUR MGOC had there.
