A Grand Day Out – from Oxford MGOC

They hold their Grand Day Out event at the Cotswold Wildlife Park which is 2 miles South of Burford (A40 – Oxford to Cheltenham Road) on the A419 towards Lechlade.

It is a terrific venue with so much to see and do. Follow this <LINK>

They have an arrangement with the owners of the Park, that all MGs and Drivers get entry for free and because they do not charge for attendance of the MG event, it is a very cheap day out. You only have to pay the normal park entrance (£10 I think) for passengers in the car.

This year, they have the Owners Club from Swavesey coming along with their small marquee and will be selling MG regalia and Jon Miller will be there from Redditch with his new and second hand MG spares. There will be a few other stalls at the event and we also encourage those attending to clear out their garages and bring along any MG bits and pieces that they want to sell. They always have a ‘self judging’ Pride of Ownership competition with trophies for the winners.

A wide range of MGs attend this event every year, normally attracting around 200+ MGs with 2004 bringing 275 along. Last year, because of the weather forecast, it fell to around 220. We hope for good things this year.

We would certainly be pleased to welcome you there. Adverts for the event will be going out in the next issues of ‘Enjoying MG’ and we hope to advertise it on local radio and newspapers.
