Wessex Classic Car Show 2005

We did it! Or more correctly Chris Adamson and Pat Lodge did it!

1020 won the best club stand with the theme of Last Night of The Proms. The incredible amount of time and work put in by Pat and Chris for the planning and organisation of the stand certainly showed, from banners and bunting to hand made instruments and sheet music for the Teddy Bears orchestra (Bears Broadcasting Company Symphony Orchestra), which provided the stirring music, a band stand and a rostrum for the conductor, (Ken Rayner, looking very much the part), streamers, pot plants on loan from Sylvia and Graham Starr and Anna Palmer Webster, the care and effort could not have been improved upon.

When Danni and I arrived before 8–30, Pat and Chris were already there, ferrying car loads of equipment from the overnight storage to the stand. A quick discussion on where to start and off we went. Thanks must go to the other early attendees, Spencer Brown, Graham and Sylvia Starr, Robin Hackforth, who all pitched in to help build up the stand.

30 plus cars were arranged on the large corner stand, the front ranks reflecting the red white and blue theme, other cars were arranged around the site. We were lucky to be able to have a large area in the middle of the stand for people to sit, picnic and barbecue in the very hot weather.

Many people made a special effort to decorate their tables in line with the theme. Jenny and Dave Bailey really went to town with their decorations! Thanks to all those who helped to break down the stand after the show, Chris however had not finished. After driving "Priscilla" home with the first load of equipment, he returned to Bovington with another vehicle to collect the larger items.

Chris suggested that I collect the trophy on behalf of 1020 and I was proud to do so.

Well done Pat and Chris! Many thanks from all of us.
