Welcome to the Bournemouth & Poole MG Owners’ Club website

The Bournemouth & Poole MG Owners’ Club is an autonomous club within the National MG Owners’ Club and as such is designated 1020 (region 10 area 20).  You do not have to be a member of the National Club to join us, but there are many benefits and the club is very supportive of its members.

We are your local MG Owners’ Club catering for enthusiasts, owners or even just admirers of the MG marque. We have no prejudice as to age, colour, model or style of MG, providing it’s wearing the badge it fits! The cars owned by our members range from a J2 up to an SV supercar and everything in between. We also welcome Midgets and Sprites with open arms!  Our attitude is ‘Your MG is your passport’.

The Bournemouth & Poole MGOC was started in 1984 by Nigel Hedges, who remained Area Secretary for 26 years, running the club with great enthusiasm  mostly single handedly. Following his retirement from 1020 in September 2010  the club was re-structured with the formation of a management team headed by Graham Lowe as Area Secretary. If you own an MG locally, or are searching for one, it’s worth contacting Graham  by email graham@1020mg.org.uk  or  Tel: 01202 549582.  He may well be able to help you with the names of repairers, suppliers and possibly cars for sale.

We  meet from 7.30pm on the first Monday of each month, including Bank Holidays, at The Hamworthy Sports Club, Magna Road, Canford Magna nr. Wimborne BH21 3AE, in the small function room.

Each month, at our club nights, we provide a variety of entertainment with guest speakers, film shows, skittles and quizzes.  Our 4 seasons club road runs are extremely popular and provide members with even more opportunities to enjoy their cars and make new friends.

In August each year, we hold a charity fund raising event, an MG Garden Party and Picnic at Athelhampton House. All MGs are welcome to park on the lawns of this Grade 1 Listed Tudor Manor House. For 2013 we have chosen to support 2 local charities, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Julia’s House. From time to time we are also able to make extra donations to other worthy causes.

As a member of 1020 you will receive a monthly email copy of our newsletter, which won the National MG Owners’ Club award for the best club newsletter in 2012. It will keep you up to date with all the events that we will be supporting both locally and further afield during the year.

You are very welcome to come along to a club night to get some idea of our activities. Should you wish to join us, the annual family membership fee is £10, which includes children up to the age of 18.  Discounts are available to members from certain suppliers, listed in the newsletter, on production of a current membership card,
